The North Carolina Chapter of the Community Associations Institute (CAI) is hosting an “Ask the HOA Experts: Q&A on Legal Issues Affecting Community Associations” on Wednesday, May 13, 2015, from 5:30-7:00 pm (sign-in begins at 5 pm) at the Employer’s Association, 3020 W. Arrowood Road, Charlotte. I’ll be participating along with my friend and community association attorney Mike Hunter with Horack Talley. (FYI, Mike and I were suitemates at UNC-Chapel Hill many years ago, but questions for this event will be limited to community association issues!)
Topics could include:
- Do your pool rules violate Fair Housing Act laws?
- How do you enforce the governing documents?
- What are the laws governing assistance and comfort animals?
- Are your board and membership meetings run properly?
- How to draft reasonable condo and HOA rules and regulations?
- What pending bills could harm homeowner and condominium associations?
But it really depends on what questions are asked!
Everyone is invited—homeowners, board members, community managers, or anyone interested in HOA’s and condos, but registration is required. The cost is $30 for CAI members and $40 for non-members. For more information, contact CAI-NC at office@cai-nc.org.
Hope to see you there with an HOA or condo association question!
