Volunteerism is the foundation on which community associations base their operation and support. Volunteering is a calling for many. It is a commitment of time and effort with a purpose. The quest for volunteers and keeping them motivated are endless tasks, but the rewards are well worth the effort.
Organizations that have been successful in the call for volunteers have been effective in their recruiting methods by making a personal appeal to each and everyone they contact to join. Continuous announcements to solicit support are sent through newsletters, websites, emails and notices. The communication clearly identifies the need of the organization in a positive and enthusiastic manner. After a while, participating becomes contagious.
Taking your HOA meeting minutes
Author P. Michael Nagle writes: “It is crucial to the conduct of any meeting that the chair be composed, organized, soft-spoken, equitable, and obviously in charge without being overbearing.” (”Meetings & Elections: How Community Associations Exercise Democracy”). If the chair fails to control the meeting, the resulting chaos will be reflected in the minutes.
